Texas Education Agency Delays Release of School Rankings

The Texas Education Agency [TEA] has delayed an expected late September release of its annual school ratings . The agency cited the need to make adjustments to account for academic decline attributed to the pandemic.

The move comes amid pushback from several school districts that sued to stop the TEA from releasing school rankings compiled using a new rating system.

The ratings which were expected to be released on September 28, will now be released sometime next month. Meantime, state lawmakers are set to reconvene for a special session on public education and school vouchers before the end of the year.
