Ken Paxton Speaks Out Before Impeachment Vote

(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton held a press conference, Friday, to address the legislature’s planned vote to impeach the embattled politician.

Paxton minced no words in describing how he views the actions of certain members of the Texas House, calling them “corrupt politicians” and engaging in an act of “political retribution”. House members will vote on the impeachment of Paxton detailing 20 articles of impeachment for a variety of issues, including his alleged illegal business dealings that included an extramarital affair.

Paxton expressed frustration that he wasn’t given a chance to clear his name during the committee’s discussion of the possible impeachment vote. This, after Paxton had called on House Speaker Dade Phelan to resign for what he called “apparent intoxication” during an episode of slurred speech on the House floor.

The impeachment vote is scheduled for 1pm, Saturday, where only a simple majority is required to strip Paxton of his duties, pending the outcome of a trial in the Texas Senate. The embattled attorney general invited supporters to peacefully protest in opposition to impeachment efforts.
