Shooter Identified, DPS Investigating Allen Mass KIllings

ALLEN (WBAP/KLIF) – The shooter in the mass killings at the Premium Outlet mall in Allen is being identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia.

Garcia reportedly lived in a motel at the time of Saturday’s shooting. The FBI searched a home believed to be his parent’s house in Dallas. Another Dallas location was also searched in connection to the case.

The FBI released the statement below:

The Allen Police Department is coordinating with the FBI and Allen Premium Outlets on a plan to reunite individuals with any vehicles left at the scene. According to the city, updates on this effort will be posted later Sunday afternoon/evening at AllenPolice.org and on official social media accounts.

“Our community is grieving the shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday, May 6 which resulted in the deaths of eight victims as well as the suspected shooter,” a statement from the city read.

As of Sunday morning, the city said Medical City McKinney was treating four patients, one in fair condition and three in critical condition. One patient was transferred to Medical City Plano, a Level I Trauma Center, and is currently listed in fair condition. One patient was transferred to Medical City Children’s Hospital and is in fair condition. A ninth patient was treated at a different area hospital.

“We know the days ahead will be difficult and somber. While we remember the victims of today’s shooting, we want to convey our appreciation for the condolences and notes we are receiving from all over the world,” said Allen Mayor Ken Fulk. “I have received calls from The White House, Governor Abbot and many other national, state and county officials who have reached out to the City of Allen to express their support and desire to help the Allen Community in any way possible. On behalf of the city council, our law enforcement personnel, first responders and all of our city employees – we will remain strong and stand united.”

The Texas Department of Public Safety is now handling this investigation.
