(WBAP/KLIF) — A May bond election is planned for Denton ISD. The school board voted to approve a nearly one and a half billion dollar bond election at Tuesday night’s meeting.

Denton ISD Board Meeting

The board voted unanimously in favor of a proposed May 6th bond election to address several issues, including massive growth, aging schools, and outdated buses. Citizens Advisory Committee member Amy Jones says the over $1.4 billion bond came out of 7 months of assessments.

The bond will help pay for construction and renovation of district buildings, school technology improvements, renovations at C.H. Collins Stadium, bolsters career and technical education, as well as safety and provides money to purchase land for building new schools to address the massive influx of students moving into the district.

Voters will cast ballots on the measure during a proposed May 6th bond election.
