F-35 Crashes at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A military jet crashed near the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth and Lockheed Martin Thursday morning.

The F-35B Strike Fighter jet came down near Spur 341/Lockheed Boulevard around 10:15 a.m..

White Settlement Police Chief Chris Cook said the pilot ejected safely. No word on the condition of the pilot.

Manny Estrada works at Armstrong Garage & Body Shop across the highway from the runway. He witnessed the jet hovering before it began smoking and experiencing problems staying upright.

Estrada watched the aircraft land, but was unstable when the pilot ejected and then ran away from the aircraft towards the perimeter fence. Watch video of crash from WFAA reporter Scoop Jefferson.
