Police Officer Acquitted in Shooting Death of Woman

(WBAP/KLIF) — A Texas police officer has been acquitted of an assault charge related to the 2019 fatal shooting of a woman after a struggle over the officer’s stun gun.

The shooting took place at an apartment complex where the two lived. A jury on Tuesday found Baytown officer Juan Delacruz innocent of aggravated assault for the May 2019 shooting death of Pamela Turner in the parking lot of a Houston apartment complex. Prosecutors had argued Delacruz was not justified in using deadly force against Turner, however lawyers for the officer say he feared for his life after the woman used his stun gun against him.

In May of 2019, Pamela Turner was being arrested on outstanding warrants when she fought with the officer, took his stun gun, and fired it at him. After being hit, Delacruz fired five shots at the woman, killing her.
