Trial Underway for Father Charged in Daughters Killings

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The father of two teenage girls shot to death in a Taxi cab outside an Irving hotel in 2008 is on trial this week in Dallas County.

Yasar Said is accused of murdering his two daughters in so-called honor killings, because they were dating outside the Muslim faith.

During opening arguments on Tuesday, the prosecution asked the jury to return what it called “the only just verdict in this case.”

“A verdict of guilty,” insisted prosecutors.

The defense argues the Police investigation into the murders was botched.

“The Feds should have gone back and fixed the mistakes that local law enforcement messed up,” the defense said.

Yasar was arrested in 2020 after being on the run for nearly 12 years.
