Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Jury selection begins Monday in Austin at the trial that will determine how much controversial podcaster Alex Jones will have to pay Sandy Hook Elementary School parents for his repeated false claims that the deadliest classroom shooting in U.S. history was a hoax. Courts in Texas and Connecticut have already found Jones liable for insisting without any evidence that the 2012 massacre of 26 students and teachers didn’t happen. Jones repeatedly claimed it was all a lie, staged by actors, and intended to illegally expand gun control laws. This trial for damages is only the first. It involves two Sandy Hook families. Damages have yet to be awarded in separate defamation cases brought against Jones by other Sandy Hook families.
