City of McKinney Participates in National Drug Take Back Day

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The City of Mckinney will be accepting prescription drugs on Saturday as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Nationwide Drug Take Back event.

Any North Texan who wants to safely dispose of all accumulated expired, unwanted and unused prescription drugs can do so at the Public Safety Building at 2200 Talyor-Burk Dr. from 10 am – 2 pm.

Medications can be disposed of in its original container or by removing the medication from is container and putting it directly into the disposal box.

All participants throwing their original containers out need to remove any identifying information from the prescription label.

Needles, EpiPens and sharp objects will not be accepted.

The McKinney Police Department is one of many across North Texas that participate in the bi-annual event.

Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
