(WBAP/KLIF) — After a nationwide search, the city of Carrollton has appointed its next fire chief.

City officials announced, Tuesday, that Michael Thomson was chosen from a field of 50 candidates to replace former Carrollton Fire Rescue Chief Gregg Salmi.
Thomson comes from Highland Village, where he spent the last three years as fire chief and emergency management coordinator. The 24-year fire veteran says he is truly honored and humbled to be joining Carrollton’s Fire Rescue Team.
Various city panels interviewed finalists over a two day period before selecting Thomson as the next chief.
