ROCKWALL (WBAP/KLIF News ) – North Texas first responders are urging residents to be safe in the water after two drowning incidents in local lakes over the long Easter weekend.
One man drowned and another man is hospitalized after jumping into the water from a boat at Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall on Sunday night.
According to Dallas Fire Rescue, there were four people and a dog in the boat but its unclear why the men jumped into the water. Reports indicated the boat may have stalled.
One of the men’s bodies surfaced on its own. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rockwall County EMS performed CPS on the man who was pulled from the water. His condition is unkown.
Neither man was wearing a life jacket.
On the other side of the Metroplex, a man drowned in Joe Pool Lake during a swim Sunday evening. The Grand Prairie Fire Department said he too was not wearing a life jacket.
As lake season gets into full swing, first responders are reminding the public about the importance of wearing some type of protective floating device while in the water.
