Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Calling the situation a “crisis,” Dallas Animal Services [DAS] says it has run out of space.

With over 375 dogs and hundreds more expected in days the shelter is in urgent need of folks to adopt or foster one of their furry-four-legged friends, to avoid putting down healthy dogs.

In a press release D-A-S Director Melissa Webber said, “As an open admission shelter, we can’t stop taking in pets,” but added that, amid the most creative solutions, “We are now out of options.”

DAS is the government-operated municipal animal shelter for the city of Dallas and provides public safety and animal care services to residents of Dallas.

DAS is one of the largest municipal shelters in the country, taking in any Dallas pet in need, regardless of space. DAS serves tens of thousands of pets and even more people within the city of Dallas each year.
