The Town of Ranger SW of FTW Impacted by Massive Fire Still Burning Out of Control

Eastland County, Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – A massive fire west of Fort Worth filled the North Texas skies with smoke, Thursday.

Officials say the fire nearly destroyed the small town of Carbon in Eastland County, SW of Fort Worth and was still burning out of control, Thursday night. Ten fires in all make up what has been dubbed the Eastland Complex Fire.

Those fire is separate from another fire that caused massive damage to the nearby town of Ranger, also in Eastland County, according to our media partner WFAA-TV.

Stephensville resident Martin Baird described the scene.

“The sky is just completely black. It’s looks to be just a massive fire.”

The resident could see a number of fire trucks headed in the direction of the blaze.

According to the Texas A&M fire service the Eastland Complex Fire is over 38,000 acres. Crews are focusing their efforts on life, safety and structure protection, as well as establishing a fireline where possible.
