(WBAP/KLIF)- Cisco Police say Eastland County Sheriff’s deputy Barbara Fenley died trying to save others from the massive Eastland complex wildfire on Thursday.

“It is with very heavy hearts that today we learned of the death of one our Eastland County Deputies who put it all on the line last night trying to save people from the horrible fires. Our sister Barbara Fenley will be deeply missed. She was a special servant and an attribute to our profession. We will kneel in prayer for her family, friends and colleagues as they mourn. RIP dear friend, you will be missed,” Cisco police wrote in a statement on Facebook.

Crews are still battling a now complex wildfire comprised of four original fires in Eastland county; about 100 miles west of Fort Worth, with more than 45 thousand acres burned with around 4% contained.

The Texas A&M Forest Service says around 50 homes have been damaged and hundreds were ordered to evacuate.

He said the high winds as well as dry vegetation is the cause for the spread.
