Outgoing Dallas ISD Superintendent Gives Final State of District Address

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The outgoing Dallas ISD Superintendent has confidence in the district’s future.

During his final State of the District Address on Friday, Michael Hinojosa said the district is facing challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, but that the district is thriving in many aspects.

“In the 1990’s we had five superintendents in five years and one went to Federal prison,” Hinojosa said.

Now, teacher pay is competitive and new buildings are going up.

“They didn’t look like this when I was kid or a teacher,” said Hinojosa. “But look at them now.”

Hinojosa praised the diversity of the district and credited corporate partnerships to students success after graduation.

Hinojosa’s colleagues presented him with a framed jersey to celebrate his retirement.
