Early Voting Appears to Boost Confidence of Texas Voters

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The early voting period appears to be bringing a sense of confidence to some Texas voters.

A new election law, passed in 2021, is now in effect and includes changes to mail-in voting requirements and early voting hours.

According to a new UT Tyler-Dallas Morning News poll, 70% of Texas voters are confident in the election process and believe their vote will be counted in the march primaries. 77% of Democrats and 69% of Republicans believe their vote will be counted.

“We surveyed 1,188 voters from across the state,” said UT Tyler Political Science Professor Mark Owens. “Through phone calls and online surveys.”

According to Owens, the voice of confidence is louder now than in it was in previous polls. He attributes that to Texans experiencing the process themselves during early voting.
