DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – COVID-19 trends in North Texas are showing downward trends.
“The ice storm helped cool off cases,” said Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation CEO, Steve Miff. “We observe significant week-over-week decreases in cases. Specifically, the general population dropped 47% and youth fell by 55%.”
Hospital census and ICU utilization are also down. According to Miff, the Dallas County Census shows a 64% decrease. North Texas Trauma region COVID-19 hospitalizations and ICU beds are seeing a decrease of 28% and 26%, respectively.
According to PCCI, COVID-19 positivity rates are still high at Parkland, but are down significantly to 21% and 10% for symptomatic and asymptomatic, respectively. Those are decreases from the peaks of 58% and 28% just four weeks ago.
Miff said that all signs point in the right direction with rates potentially approaching pre-omicron levels within 2 weeks, then stabilizing at a new lower baseline.
