(WBAP/KLIF) – A new national terrorism bulletin asks Americans who plan to go to mass gatherings or places of worship to be on alert.
Rabbi Charlie Cytron Walker escaped a hostage taker at a Colleyville synagogue last month and testified before a Senate committee on Tuesday about the need for more security funding at places of worship across America.
“Right now there are far too many houses of worship that have developed plans and are counting on the non-profit security grant program to put them in place and help them feel more secure in their spiritual home,” Rabbi Cytron Walker said.
Rabbi Charlie and other Jewish leaders asked that Congress expand funding to better secure places like Synagogues and churches.
In its bulletin, the Department of Homeland Security said the hostage situation in Colleyville could inspire copycat attacks.
