Improving News for Shot Houston Police Officers

HOUSTON- KTRK; (WBAP/KLIF) – Two of three Houston Police Department officers shot and injured in a southwest downtown gunfight last week are now released from hospital; one remains under treatment but the condition is now upgraded to stable.

Suspect 31 year old Roland Caballero remains hospitalized with gunshot wound to the neck. He faces three counts of attempted capital murder of a police officer, and aggravated robbery charges stemming from an alleged carjacking. The suspect fled from police and barricaded himself in a home, opening fire on pursuing officers.

Officials say Caballero had a warrant issued for him in connection with a December robbery; an open warrant issued for an unlawful carrying a weapon charge and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, in connection with a late December robbery at a Katy auto shop.

Houston station KTRK reports court records show Caballero was under investigation when officials say a witness told police Caballero was producing gun components called switches that turn semi-automatic pistols into fully automatic ones.
