A Controversial Diversity & Equity Plan at Carroll is Dead

(WFAA)

Southlake Carroll, Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – A new lawsuit settlement in Carroll ISD over a highly controversial diversity and equity plan has ended all speculation that the plan would be enacted.

The Carroll IDS board voted 4-1, with two abstentions, to approve the settlement which effectively disbands the district’s diversity council, and rejects their Cultural Competence Action Plan or CCAP.

Attorney Dusty Fillmore who represents a parent who filed the lawsuit says that the plan had major plans from the start, telling WFAA-TV. ““The lawsuit was all about good government.”

Meantime, Nikki Olaleye former CISD student who was a member of the diversity council which devised the plan told the station that it seems that “ideals like diversity and equity are like bad words” in the district.

Efforts to create a diversity plan were triggered by a racially insentive video posted to social media by two students in 2018.
