DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – One of the five Officers killed in the 2016 Dallas Police ambush was honored on Friday during a dedication ceremony at Love Field.
The City of Dallas Department of Aviation hosted the official naming ceremony of its Law Enforcement Building in honor of fallen officer Sergeant Michael Smith.
The Dallas City Council approved the naming at its September meeting.
Sergeant Smith was killed in the attack on first responders in Downtown Dallas on July 7, 2016. Sergeant Smith worked for DPD for 28 years, including serving the DPD Love Field Unit.
The building is officially named the Sergeant Michael Smith Law Enforcement Building.
