Cook Children’s Makes ‘Extraordinary’ Move to Postpone All Elective Surgeries

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Cook Children’s has taken what it’s calling an “extraordinary” step in postponing elective surgeries due to staff and bed shortages. The move comes amid the latest covid-19 surge due to the highly contagious delta variant.

Officials at the pediatric hospital in Fort Worth also urge parents to get their eligible children vaccinated. They says that half of patients since the Pfizer vaccine was ok’d for kids 12 and up have been unvaccinated teens.

The chief nursing officer at Cook Children’s Cheryl Peterson told our media partner WFAA, “You should be frightened of this. “You should not continue to think about conspiracy theories. Please trust the evidence and trust the science.”

WATCH:

Meantime, across Texas just over 50% of eligible residents are fully vaccinated according to stats from John Hopkins University.
