Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – After a review of COVID fatalities caused by the latest delta variant triggered surge of covid-19 cases hospitalization and deaths, the Texas Department of State Health services has requested five mortuary trailers.
DSHS made the request to FEMA on August 4th and told CBS-Austin that is “a normal part of preparedness to support local jurisdictions in case they need them.”
COVID fatalities have been on the rise in Texas over the past 3 weeks.
The trailers will be sent to a staging location in San Antonio within the next couple of weeks.
Meantime, Texas health officials continue to urge all eligible Texans to get vaccinated.
