DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas County Health Department is reporting a case of Monkeypox. The infected person lives in the city of Dallas and recently traveled to Nigeria. The person flew into Love Field on July 9th.
The Centers for Disease Control is working with local health officials to reach out to airline passengers and others who may have been in contact with the infected person. “We have been working closely with the CDC and DSHS and have conducted interviews with the patient and close contacts that were exposed,” said DCHHS Director Dr. Philip Huang. “We have determined that there is very little risk to the general public. This is another demonstration of the importance of maintaining a strong public health infrastructure, as we are only a plane ride away from any global infectious disease.”
Symptoms of Moneypox include fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and exhaustion. It’s spread from human to human by respiratory droplets.
