DFW Hospital Council says Delta Variant is Leading to an Uptick in COVID Patients

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The DFW Hospital Council is concerned about a recent spike in COVID hospitalizations in North Texas.

CEO Steve Love said Tuesday that more than 600 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 in North Texas, which is the highest number since March.

“It could increase but probably will not surge to what it was,” said Love. “But we hate to see these people get sick, and some are going to die.”

Love attributed the uptick to the emergence of the Delta variant.

“We’re concerned from this point of view,” explained Love. “The Delta variant is much more contagious. It seems people are sicker when they get the Delta variant. The majority of the 605 patients had not been vaccinated.”

He encouraged North Texas to get vaccinated to avoid being hospitalized.
