COVID Vaccine Site at Fair Park to Close in July

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The days are numbered for the COVID-19 vaccination site at Fair Park.

Officials with Dallas County said this week that the vaccine mega hub will close July 17. The site had it struggles when it first opened, but Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said the Fair Park location became one of the most efficient vaccine sites in the country.

“[Fair Park] was the second most visited site as far as shots given in the United states only behind Dodger Stadium,” insisted Judge Jenkins. “Of course after it closes we will have other sites open, but we have to get ready for the State Fair.”

Other mega vaccine sites in the metroplex have already closed. But, North Texans can still get COVID shots at pop-up clinics or through other providers.

Parkland Health & Hospital System will host several COVID-19 vaccination clinics beginning Tuesday and throughout next week in locations across Dallas County. According to Parkland, individuals over the age of 12 can receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine without an appointment and will be scheduled to return for their second dose in 21 days. A valid ID will be required, and all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian authorized to consent for the minor.
