ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- Jim Ross has declared victory as the next Arlington Mayor, replacing term-limited Mayor Jeff Williams.
Ross said a main focus is to bring even more jobs to the city. “I’m an entrepreneur first of all so I’m never satisfied with the status quo. Every place I’ve gone to whether it’s the police department, self employed, working in other law firms, I’ve sought to make that place better,” said Ross. “I would love to see us have a significant job creation here in Arlington in a way we’ve never seen before. In fact, I’ll have some tools available to me that no mayor has had before such as the funding of the Economic Development Corporation,” said Ross.
Ross said he hopes this funding will encourage different businesses to come to the city. He also wants to bring educational leaders together to make life better for students in Arlington.
Also, Ross said as former police officer and first responder, he wants to focus on safer communities. “Ensuring that we are taking care of our police and fire the right way,” he said.
Ross says he has a lot to bring to the table and ready to take Arlington to the next level bringing his inclusive leadership and ideas to life.
In the May 1st election, Ross received 47% of the vote over candidate Michael Glaspie but it headed to the run off because Ross needed 50% to win.
Saturday night, Ross declared his victory with 54.45% of the vote.
