Governor Abbott Defends Senate Bill 7

(WBAP/KLIF) — Governor Greg Abbott is firing back at Democrats who walked off the job to prevent a voter protection bill from passing.  Abbott says he’ll veto a line in the state budget that allows lawmakers to be paid.

The Biden administration has called Texas SB-7 as one of the most stringent voter suppression bills in the country.  Abbott countered that claim with evidence from the Obama-Biden administration where federal charges were brought in a massive voter fraud scheme in Texas.

The governor also stated that President Biden’s home state of Delaware has more stringent voter laws than Senate Bill 7 contains.  The governor will call a special session to address Senate Bill 7. The walkout by Democrats on Sunday night blocked passage of the voter protection bill.  The governor appeared on WBAP’s Rick Roberts show on Tuesday.
