FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City of Fort Worth expanded a boil water order early Tuesday morning.
The scope jumped from about 100,000 homes Monday night to almost 212,000 homes.
It affects nine cities that buy drinking water from the city to include: Haslet, Keller, Lake Worth, Northlake, Roanoke, Saginaw, Trophy Club and Westlake.
Officials said the order was given in the aftermath of a power outage at the Eagle Mountain Water Plant on Bowman Roberts Road. The plant and raw water pump station lost power several times.
Some residents have reported that they’ve lost water service completely.
The order is expected to last through late Wednesday but it could be longer. Residents are asked to bring the water to a “rolling boil” for two minutes before using to kill any harmful bacteria before drinking, cooking and ice making.
Once water is restored, it will take city staff around 24 hours to test samples and get the results back.
The city will notify residents once the water is safe.
