WATCH: Memorial For U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who was Killed In Deadly D.C. Riot, Held in Capitol Rotunda

WASHINGTON D.C. (WBAP/KLIF News) – President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, members of Congress, and members of law enforcement in Washington D.C. paid tribute to slain U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick in the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday morning.

Sicknick died as a result of injuries sustained during the deadly riot at the Capitiol on January 6th.

He was defending the building and lawmakers when a mob of then-President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the building in an attempt to disrupt the electoral college count.

Dozens of Capitol Police officers lined the steps of the rotunda Tuesday night as his urn was carried into the Rotunda, according to the Associated Press.

The 42-year-old Sicknick, a South River, New Jersey, native served in the National Guard for six months and served tours in Saudi Arabia and Kyrgzstan, the AP reports.

He joined the U.S. Capitol Police in 2008.

Sicknick’s remains will be interred at the Arlington National Cemetery.
