North Texas Residents Avoid Unemployment Benefit Work Search Requirements

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – The Texas Workforce Commission announced in October that it would reinstate on November 1 its usual three-per-week work searches demand for those receiving unemployment benefits, but it didn’t happen in north Texas. Local Workforce boards have the power to reduce or remove the work search requirement depending on how severe COVID-19 is in their areas. All 12 of the counties in and around DFW are in the red zones, so the work search requirements have not been renewed for them. The Texas Workforce Commission notes that could change as local conditions change.
