DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- The Dallas County Commissioners Court is still looking into how they’ll spend a $15 million grant received from the Center for Technology and Civic Life for the November Election.
During Monday’s meeting, the Commissioners Court was supposed to address the grant used for PPE, equipment and other things needed for early voting and Election Day.
Will Busby with the Dallas County Republican Party said Commissioners asked to table this for another meeting either later this week or next. He said time is running out and they want transparency.
“We understand that this election is going to cost more money because of social distancing and being safe and we are glad they were able to receive funding to make that happen but so far they haven’t been transparent on what they want to do,” said Will Busby with the Dallas County GOP.
“Since the end of September, this entire process has shown a lack of clarity and transparency from the Dallas County Elections Administration, and has once again put into question the confidence the Citizens of Dallas have in the Elections Administration to hold a free, fair, and honest election. If the money is for new machinery for Early Voting, then the time has passed for that to be adequately spent. If the money is for messaging, then it needs to be non-partisan, neutral, and calling on the Citizens of Dallas to cast their ballot for their preferred candidates,” he said.
Busby noted that a lawsuit has been filed by the Madison Institute to gain further clarification on how these funds will be spent in Dallas County. “We look forward to seeing the legal process play out,” he said.
