FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The Fort Worth Meacham International Airport will undergo some improvements.
The airport was awarded $4 million from the Federal Aviation Administration for pavement improvements at the airport’s taxi-way.
Aaron Barth Assistant Aviation Director at Meacham said this improvement is much needed and will reduce the pavement from cracking and chipping.
“We were constantly trying to upgrade and keep up with it and we’ve done as much preventative maintenance for it over the years but at some point it becomes time for considerable work to be done,” said Barth.
Barth said last year the airport had almost 200,000 operations, take off or landing at the airport.
“I’m excited for it but probably not nearly as much as the tenants that will be taxiing back and forth on this project for years to come,” he said.
Barth said they are still early in the process. Design is scheduled to begin in 2021 and it’s set to be completed by at least 2023.
