Fort Worth to Convert Hotels to Fight Homelessness Due to COVID-19

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The city of Fort Worth is looking to turn unused hotel rooms into housing for those facing homelessness due to the coronavirus.

Fort Worth Housing Solutions has till December to get this done as the $18.6 million stimulus aid will expire at the end of the year.

The money was allocated through the $158 million CARES Act .

Housing will go to those who have a chronic medical condition or require some form of long-term treatment.

The city has already set aside $15 million for small business grants and more than $7 million for a separate housing assistance program.
