YMCA Offers Certified Teachers to Assist with Online Learning

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas announced this week a new program to support students and parents when school resumes amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As schools across North Texas are impacted by COVID-19, many school districts will be offering remote learning to begin the school year.

The YMCA Learning Academy is offering a face-to-face program designed to support students who are remote learning through their school district. The ‘Y Learning Academy’ will be led by a certified teacher and will address children’s academic and physical needs, while supporting their emotional well-being too.

“As school districts continue to alter their plans in light of the current pandemic, we realize that parents need our assistance now more than ever. The Y will be here to support parents whether classes resume in person or remotely,” said Jodi Newman, School Age Services Executive Director, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “We recognize there are many parents who must go to work in-person or cannot teach their children at home during the day.”

The YMCA’s Learning Academy will be an all-day (7:30 AM- 4PM) option (Kinder to 5th Grade) to help guide students through curriculum.

YMCA Learning Academies will start August 17, 2020 in Frisco, Plano, McKinney, and Coppell with more locations coming soon.
