President Trump makes 16th Trip to Lone Star State

MIDLAND (WBAP/KLIF) – President Donald Trump spend Wednesday afternoon touring a drilling rig in Midland, Texas.

During the visit the president discussed how the U.S. is achieving energy dominance by cutting regulations, simplifying the permitting process and encouraging private investment in energy infrastructure.

During a speech the president said he came to the Permian Basin “to send a clear message to the zealots, radicals and extremists trying to shut down your industry…. As long as I’m your president we will never let anyone put American energy out of business, which is what they’d like to do.”

Governor Greg Abbott and former governor and energy secretary Rick Perry met Trump on the tarmac. Other dignitaries in attendance included Senator Ted Cruz, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and Texas GOP chairman Allen West.

This was the president’s 16th trip to the Lone Star State. Trump also raised money for the Republican Party and his reelection campaign at a fundraising luncheon in nearby Odessa, Texas.
