Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Fort Worth Police are asking for prayers for one of their comrades following what’s being described as ‘catrostrophic’ injuries he suffered while helping fellow officers try to stop stolen car.

3-year Fort Worth Policeman Matt Brazeal (pictured left) was outside his vehicle laying down stop sticks when he was struck at highway speeds by a suspect who had fled a traffic stop in the 4200 block North Freeway northbound.

Suffering major injuries across his body; it has taken multiple surgeries over several days to stabilize him. He’ll likely spend the next year in the hospital.

Ronny Jackson Jr. (Fort Worth Police)

Fort Worth Police Officers’ Association President Manny Ramirez, told WFAA-TV, “He sacrificed his body, sacrificed himself to try to take a violent, fleeing felon off of the streets.”

The suspect, Ronny Jackson Jr. (pictured right) was arrested.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, Brazeal’s family from Parker County has to stay at a nearby and cannot be by his side

Anyone who would like to make a donation and leave one in Brazeal’s name can do so on the Assist The Officer/Fort Worth.

A GoFundMe campaign as also been created for Brazeal.
