(WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- Texas has seen a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the month of June.
But Governor Greg Abbott told KRGV-TV there has been particularly large increase in confirmed cases for people in the 20 to 29 age group.
“What we’re seeing there is that people of that age group, they’re not following these appropriate best health and safety practices,” said Abbott, “They’re not wearing face masks, they’re not sanitizing their hands, they’re not maintaining the safe distancing practices. And as a result, they are contracting COVID-19 at a record pace in the state of Texas.”
On Monday Dallas County reported 305 new cases of COVID-19. Tarrant County with 164. While Denton and Collin counties reported a combined 156 new cases of the virus.
Dallas hospitals reported that 65% of total beds and ICU beds are currently in use while just 31% of ventilators are in use.
