Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson’s House Seat Filled

(WBAP/KLIF) — Democrat Lorraine Birabil has won the race to replace Eric Johnson in the Texas House.

The 38 year old garnered about 66% of the vote to defeat James Armstrong iii for the District 100 seat. Birabil takes over the remainder of Johnson’s term, after he vacated the post to become mayor of Dallas.

Voter turnout was poor as only around 1,000 of the 86,000 registered voters turned out for the Special Election.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Birabil promised voters she would strive to improve public education and offer affordable health care.
