DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Salvation Army is rallying around the victims of the recent tornadoes that tore through the Metroplex just ahead of the holiday season.

10 tornadoes touched down across the Metroplex October 20th and an EF-3 tornado destroyed parts of Dallas. The Insurance Council of Texas estimated the damage to be around $2 billion.

Major John Rich said the organization is opening up its requirements for its annual Christmas event that provides needy families with gifts.

“A lot of our neighbors were impacted by tornadoes here in North Texas here recently and we want to make sure that they know that they are eligible to be a part of the Angel Tree Program,” he said.

Rich said anyone that would like to participate should contact the nearest Salvation Army office and make arrangements for an appointment.

You can find Angel Trees at nine local malls and more than 250 organizations, churches and businesses across the Metroplex.

In addition to the tornado victims, the Salvation Army expects to help 50,000 people this holiday season.

Here is a list of participating malls:

Dallas – Galleria Dallas, North Park Center and Town East Mall

Plano – The Shops at Willow Bend

Denton – Golden Triangle Mall

Arlington – The Parks at Arlington

Fort Worth – Ridgmar Mall, Hulen Mall and North East Mall

You can pick an angel from the tree from November 1 – December 6th.
