HOUSTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The 10 candidates who qualified will all be on one stage Thursday night during the Democratic Presidential debate on the Texas Southern University campus in Houston.
To qualify, a candidate had to have recieved campaign contributions from at least 130,000 people and be polling at at least 2% in four approved polls.
Candidates will stand on the stage based on their polling numbers, with the highest-polling ccandidates near the middle. Each will have one minute and 15 seconds to respond to moderator questions, and 45 seconds for follow-ups and rebuttals. There will be opening statements, but no structured closing remarks.
“I’m looking forward to hearing from all the candidates and learning more about them,” said a Texas Southern student.
“I’m not decided yet and it’s great that we will get to see the candidates first hand,” a University administrator said.

President Trump’s reelection campaign will fly a banner in Houston attacking socialism ahead of the debate. Officials with the campaign said the banner reads “Socialism will kill Houston’s economy.” The Trump camp also took out two full-page advertisements in Houston and San Antonio newspapers. The ads are aimed specifically at Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former Vice President Joe Biden and San Antonio native Julián Castro.
