Tarrant County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Changing demographics in historically red Tarrant County has put the region in play as among ten U.S. counties that “will decide the 2020 presidential race,” that, according to the online publication ‘The Hill.’
The article says Fort Worth’s rapid population growth has has masked the trend of in smaller margins of victory in the Republican regions.
Republicans peaked in 2004 when George Bush won 62-percent of the vote in the county. In 2016 Donald Trump won 52-percent, and just 2 years later, the 2018 Midterms saw former congressman Beto O’rourke narrowly lose his U.S. Senate race to Ted Cruz by only 2.6 percent.
Among other southern counties to watch in 2020 are Peach County, Georgia where, according to ‘The Hill,’ is “one of country’s clearest examples of a combined racial and geographic divide;” and, New Hanover County, North Carolina where ‘The Hill’ says “the GOP’s historic advantage there is shrinking.”
