GRAND PRAIRIE – WBAP/KLIF – A vigil will be held at the headquarters of the Grand Prairie Police Department at 8:30 pm. Sunday evening for an officer killed on the Bush Turnpike Friday morning. Address; 1525 Arkansas Lane, Grand Prairie.
Officer A J Castenada died Friday morning on the Bush Turnpike near Dickey Road while operating radar. Officials say a car driven by a young man hit him when his car became out of control. No charges have been filed, but an investigation continues.
The fallen officer leaves behind an 11 year old son, and donations on that child’s behalf garnered about $11,000 in the first 24 hours the online donation site was launched.
