Richardson Father Accused of Killing Daughter Appears in Court Ahead of Murder Trial

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Details in the murder trial of a Richardson father are still be worked out with the trial slated to start later this month.

Wesley Matthews is accused of killing his 2-year-old adopted daughter Sherin Matthews in 2017. His wife Sini was jailed in the case, but her charges have been dropped.

A Judge has yet to decide if testimony about previous injuries to Sherin, including a broken arm, are relevant. Lawyers argued their sides in a pre-trial hearing Friday at the Dallas County Courthouse. Matthews, who remains jailed, was in the courtroom for the hearing.

The Judge will make her decision by June 11 and is also expected to decide whether or not Matthews will be shackled at trial.
