Fort Worth Neighborhood Discusses Safety Improvements After 8-year-old’s Abduction

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Community members from the Fort Worth neighborhood where 8-year-old Salem Sabatka was kidnapped are discussing safety improvements at a meeting Monday night (6/3).

Sabatka was found safe after being abducted in front of her mother in the Ryan Place neighborhood almost two weeks ago. However, concerned neighbors are trying to make sure it doesn’t happen again

“It’s a pretty good neighborhood overall but maybe have more security cameras and police patrols…I’m interested to see what else we can do and what the city is willing to pay for,” said Ryan Place Resident Kristina Escamilla. Escamilla describes the neighborhood as tight-knit and that everyone looks out for each other.

Thanks to a neighbors home security camera they were able to locate suspect Michael Webb’s car and find Sabatka in a hotel room. Webb is in jail, he’s expected to appear in court this week.

The meeting is at 7pm at Saint John’s Church in Fort Worth.
