MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF)- The McKinney-Based disaster response team is in Northeast Oklahoma offering support to communities impacted by severe flooding.
Matt Payne Executive Director for Minuteman Disaster Response says they have around 8 swift water rescue technicians and 3 boats on site in Rogers County. “We are talking about lakes that are beyond their flood stage currently, dams that are releasing historic amounts of water that are causing rivers running through communities to come up out of the banks,” Payne said. “It’s really a historic event, we haven’t seen flooding like this in this part of the state since 1986,” he said.
Payne said they have over 150 volunteers within Minuteman to offer assistance with clean up and impacted homes. “Our organization has already begun to mobilize our equipment and additional resources to start providing assistance for the clean up work for the weeks to come. There’s a lot of families that are going to need a lot of help cleaning out their homes,” he said.
