DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Home Depot is being sued by the families of two Dallas Police Officers who were shot while responding to a shoplifting call at one of its Dallas stores last year.
Officer Rogelio Santander was killed in the shooting and Officer Crystal Almeida was seriously hurt, but survived.
According to Police, the Officers were shot when Armando Juarez pulled out a gun and opened fire after being held for questioning for hours inside the Home Depot. Attorney Grant Gerleman represents the families and said Tuesday that security at the store should have never detained Juarez.
The lawsuit claims negligence.
“We don’t believe that Juarez had actually committed a crime at that point,” Gerleman said.
The security guard and the security company are also named in the suit.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for both families.
