$3 Billion to Help Pay for Flood Control Projects, Post Hurricane Harvey

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – Nearly two years after Hurricane Harvey battered Houston and the Texas coast, state lawmakers approved setting aside more than $3 billion to help pay for flood control projects. Flood response efforts were set as a top priority for Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and the Legislature when the session began and the measure now goes to Abbott for his final approval. The bill would allow local governments to apply for grants for flood control and planning projects.
