DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas sports legend could soon be honored with a street name.
The City of Dallas is considering a proposal to rename Olive Street, outside of the American Airlines Center, to Dirk Nowitzki Way. The German native retired from the Dallas Mavericks last month after 21 seasons with the team.
“He’s been with Dallas so long, he’s an icon,” said one Dirk fan.
“I’ve seen him play for pretty much all my life so it will be really cool to live in Dallas and have a street named after him,” said another.
A public hearing on the name change is set for June 6 at Dallas City Hall.
