Texas Economy Shows Rebound In First Quarter Of 2019

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas economic activity expanded moderately in the first quarter in 2019 after downshifting markedly last November and December, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The state’s payroll employment grew at a rate of 2.1 percent for the first quarter and 2.2 in March, bolstered by strong home sales and exports. Jason Saving, Senior Research Economist with the Dallas Fed, says exports were the driving force for Texas, an industry which ranks the state number one in the nation. Growth in state manufacturing and the service industry also helped propel the positive Texas numbers.
